Cancel, reactivate and restore

You can stop a panel at the end of its period, change your mind until it is closed for good, and ask for a restore for a limited time after that. This page explains each step and what it costs.

Which one do you need?

  • Cancel: your panel is running and you want it to stop at the end of the current period.
  • Withdraw the cancellation: you canceled but the period has not ended yet, and you want to keep the panel.
  • Reactivate: the period ended, the panel was closed because you canceled, and it has not been archived yet.
  • Restore: the panel was closed and archived, and the restore window is still open.

Cancel at the end of the period

Open your panel, go to Billing and choose Cancel at the end of the period. Arty first asks you to confirm your password, and your two-step code if two-step login is on. Then it shows what will happen.

The panel keeps running until the end of the current period. Cancel does not stop it earlier.

At the end of the period the panel is closed to visitors. The last period is invoiced in full for the orders it had, with the advance deducted if it is your first period, and you have 7 days to pay. Unused time is not refunded, and the advance is not refunded either: it is deducted from your first invoice.

Paying that final invoice does not reopen the panel. Left unpaid, it becomes a debt when the panel is closed for good.

Withdraw a cancellation

Until the period ends, the Billing tab shows a notice that the cancellation is scheduled, with the date. Choose Withdraw the cancellation and confirm. The panel keeps running as before. This needs no extra password check.

Once the period has ended and the panel is closed, you cannot withdraw. Use reactivate instead.

Reactivate a canceled panel

After a cancellation takes effect, the panel is frozen and shows that you canceled it. Its data is kept for 30 days. During that time the Billing tab shows Reactivate.

Reactivating needs three things: every invoice of the panel is paid (the final invoice included), you have no debt, and your wallet covers a new advance of $25. There is no extra fee. If something is missing, the confirm page tells you what, with a link to add funds.

When you confirm, the panel opens at once and a new period starts now, with its own advance, which is deducted from that period's invoice.

Reactivate works only for a panel you canceled. A panel that was frozen because an invoice was unpaid is opened by paying that invoice. See Late payment and frozen panels.

When the panel is closed for good

About 30 days after it was frozen, the panel is closed for good. Its data is saved in an encrypted archive and the panel is removed from its server. Visitors of the domain see that the panel was closed.

You get an e-mail when it is closed, and reminders before. The e-mail names the last day you can ask for a restore.

Restore from the archive

For 14 days after the panel is closed for good and archived, the Billing tab shows Request a restore and the last date. Press it and Arty records your request. Our team does the restore and contacts you by e-mail.

A restore needs: every invoice of the panel paid, no debt on your account, and a new advance of $25 from your wallet. There is no separate restore fee. If you have a debt, the request is refused until it is paid.

When the restore starts, the panel is set up again as a new run with its own new periods. The advance is deducted from the first invoice of the new run. A new panel key and a new licence are made for it.

A restore needs a saved archive. If there is none to give back, the restore is refused before any money moves.

When the window is over, the archive is deleted and the panel cannot be restored. You can still order a new panel.

What "restore data" means

A restored panel is first set up empty on a server, like a new panel. Then our team puts the data from the archive back. Until that is done, the panel is not opened.

There are two outcomes. Either the archive is imported and the panel goes live with its old data, or our team continues without the old data and the panel goes live empty.

While a data restore is in progress, the order of the panel cannot be canceled from your account. Contact support if you need to change it.

After that, the panel goes through the usual steps again, including waiting for its domain to point at the panel, and then becomes active.
