Rent your first panel

Ordering a panel takes four short steps: your domain, your panel, review and pay, then watching it being set up. This page walks through each one, in the order you meet them.

Before you order

You need three things in your Arty account.

  • A verified e-mail address. The order page is closed until your account e-mail is verified.
  • Enough money in your wallet for the advance. The advance is $25. If your wallet is short, the order page shows how much is missing and lets you add funds without losing what you typed.
  • A domain you control. You can use a main domain or a subdomain. Where you register it does not matter; see connect your domain for how it is pointed at the panel.

You cannot order while a closed panel of yours has an unpaid amount. The order page shows a notice with a link to what is owed. You can place up to 5 orders an hour from one account.

Step 1: your domain

Type the domain your customers will use, for example panel.example.com. Enter only the name, without https://. While you type, the page checks the name and tells you at once if it cannot be used.

Then choose how you will connect it:

  • Use the Arty nameservers (recommended). You set four nameservers at your registrar and Arty keeps the DNS records for you in the DNS manager. The nameservers are dns1.artypanel.com, dns2.artypanel.com, dns3.artypanel.com and dns4.artypanel.com. With this method the domain must be a main domain such as example.com, not a subdomain.
  • Add a CNAME record at your own DNS provider. You get the exact value on the next page.
  • Add an A record at your own DNS provider. You get the exact address on the next page.

You do not have to change anything at your registrar before you order. You do it while the panel is being set up, and the order waits for you.

Step 2: your panel

  • Panel currency. The currency your customers pay in. It cannot be changed once the panel has orders or deposits, so choose it with care.
  • Admin e-mail. The owner of the panel gets the sign-in link at this address. You type it twice.
  • Admin username. Letters, digits, dots, hyphens and underscores. It starts as admin; you can leave it.

You do not choose an admin password here. You set it yourself from the sign-in link once the panel is ready.

Step 3: review and pay the advance

The review shows the advance, your wallet balance and, if you are short, the missing amount. The advance is the price of the first plan,$25, and it is deducted from your first invoice. It is not an extra fee.

Billing works in periods of 30 days. At the end of each period you get one invoice for the plan that matches the orders your panel actually had. You then have 7 days to pay it. Nothing is switched off when you pass a plan limit. The full rules are on the billing page and the prices on the pricing page.

Tick the box to accept the terms of service and the acceptable use policy, then press the pay button. The order is placed once: if you press it twice by mistake, or reload the page, you are taken to the progress page of the order you already placed instead of paying again.

Step 4: the setup page

After you pay you land on a progress page. It updates by itself, so you can leave it open. It shows these steps, each ticked when it is done:

  • Reserving a server
  • Creating the database
  • Installing the panel
  • Creating your admin account
  • Installing your licence
  • Waiting for your domain
  • Securing the connection (HTTPS)
  • Ready

The first steps run on their own. If a step takes longer than expected or fails, the page says that our team has been told and is looking into it. You do not need to do anything. If we move your panel to another server during setup, the page says so and setup continues from there.

Awaiting domain

Once the panel itself is installed, the order waits for your domain. The page shows a card with the exact value to enter: the four nameservers, a CNAME target or an A record address, depending on the method you chose.

We check your domain by ourselves and activate the panel as soon as it points at the panel. You can also press Check now to ask for a check right away. The status line tells you where you are: not checked yet, not pointing yet, pointing only in part, pointing and being confirmed, or verified. If your domain points somewhere else as well, the page asks you to remove the other record.

An order that is still waiting for its domain after 14 days is canceled and your advance goes back to your wallet. Until then you can wait as long as you need; the first billing period starts when the panel is activated, not when you order, so the days spent waiting for DNS are not billed. More on timing and SSL is in connect your domain.

What you get, and if something goes wrong

When the panel is ready, the page says so and the owner address receives an e-mail with the link to sign in to the panel admin. There you choose your password. The panel runs over HTTPS on your own domain, with an Arty licence installed for you.

In your account, each panel has its own pages: overview, progress, billing, API keys, domain, DNS (nameserver method only), staff accounts, activity and settings.

Once the panel is installed and waiting for your domain, the progress page has a Cancel this order button; canceling returns your advance to your wallet and removes the panel. If setup fails, the advance also goes back to your wallet by itself, and the page says so. A panel that is not set up within 24 hours of the order is canceled and refunded automatically.
